📢 HCP Newsletter: HCP turns Five🎂, Annual Meeting and Pride Month – June 2023
Harlem Capital’s monthly recap on our portfolio companies, industry news, events & beyond! 🏎️💨
The Headlines 🗞️
ANNUAL MEETING 🤝
We had our first in-person Annual General Meeting (AGM) in NYC. It was great to see many of our investors in person. We had presentations on the market and panels with our portfolio companies and other venture capitalists in the space. We also had a fireside chat with Jose E. Feliciano of Clearlake Capital.
We're truly grateful for the community that supports us and looking forward to our AGM next year!
🌟PROMOTION ANNOUNCEMENTS 🌟
Hot on the heels of AGM, we’re proud to announce the promotions of two HCP investors: Gabby Cazeau is joining the partner ranks and Nicole DeTommaso will take on a principal role. Read our full announcement and look out for the new waves our team rides 🌊
Summer Soiree ☀️
The Harlem Capital team kicked off our annual meeting with mini golf and cocktails in NYC. Community is core to everything we do and it was wonderful bringing together the founders, LPs, interns and partners that keep us excited about the future. We can’t wait for the next one :)
HCP Celebrates Pride Month 🏳️🌈
As we kick-off Pride Month, it’s important to continue the celebration of inclusion, diversity, allyship and the progress made by the LGBTQ+ community. Harlem Capital is proud to recognize their voices, champion their rights, and uplift their stories. Let's keep the celebration going and continue to promote acceptance and understanding. Happy Pride! 🎉🌈
Milestone Alert: HCP turns Five 🎂
This month marks the fifth year since the launch of Harlem Capital Fund 1! Since then, we’ve invested $75M in 50 diverse led companies. As we celebrate this significant milestone, we look back not only on the achievements but on how we’ve grown and adapted, taking on the challenges of the past year to continue building a better future. Here’s to many more years of changing the face of entrepreneurship 💪
Commemorating Juneteenth ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽
As we celebrate Juneteenth and all the progress made towards racial equality and justice, we’re also reflecting on how different policies have shaped our society. One area where this is particularly evident is in the world of venture capitalism. The "hidden figures" of Black-founded VC firms from 1970 to 2019 may have been forgotten or overlooked, but their impact in paving a way for more diverse entrepreneurship is undeniable. Read more about it here.
Harlem Capital 🤝Apple REJI - See Article Here!
Apple’s Racial Equity and Justice Initiative has been a longstanding HCP partner. This month they committed an additional $25M to 3 VC funds working with minority-owned businesses, including Harlem Capital. Lofty goals need immense collaboration and we’re grateful to work with such incredible partners.
